This week as I read a book geared toward creativity and the art of expanding our possibilities, I began a closer examination of my August 21,2024 blog post titled, "Building Volunteer Bridges and Playgrounds: How Mighty Swings is Revolutionizing Volunteer Engagement with a New Website." It was here in chapter one of the book, "Creativity for Critical Thinkers" by Anthony Weston, that he shares that problems should not have a negative undertone or be viewed as challenges that we should shy away from but rather, they are an "invitations to be imaginative" and often can be reframed to uncover deeper motivations and broader goals (Weston).

As I move forward today, instead of focusing solely on the technical aspects of our new website design, I now feel the real motivation behind this project might be about deepening the connection between Mighty Swings and its community. The challenge is not just about creating a user-friendly website but about fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose among volunteers and community members. This reframed perspective encourages a holistic approach to the project, one that considers the emotional and social aspects of volunteer engagement. It’s about creating a platform that tells compelling stories, celebrates community achievements, and invites people to be a part of something bigger than themselves. By focusing on these deeper motivations, Mighty Swings can design a website that not only attracts volunteers but also inspires and nurtures long-term community involvement.
This approach aligns with Mighty Swings' core values and ensures that the new website serves as a true reflection of the organization's mission and vision.
